Rahway Hotel Parking: Getting Around by Car

A parking heading in a hotel’s amenities information does not by itself confirm the practical details you need to plan a drive. Before setting out, ask the hotel whether parking is on site or elsewhere, whether spaces are guaranteed, and whether you need to reserve one.

Also confirm any limits or conditions, including who may use the spaces and whether there is a charge. Do not assume that a mention of parking means a free, dedicated space will be available when you arrive. Once you have the hotel’s answer, you can decide whether to rely on that arrangement or check public parking options.

Ask the hotel for specific parking instructions before your trip, rather than relying on the word “parking” alone. A quick call or message can clarify where to go and what to expect on arrival.

1. Is parking available for hotel guests, and where is it located?
2. Do you need to reserve a space in advance, or is parking subject to availability?
3. Are there fees, time limits, or vehicle restrictions?
4. If the hotel’s spaces are full, which public lot or garage should you use?

Keep the answer handy for arrival, and follow the signs at whichever public facility you use. If the hotel directs you to a municipal facility, verify that facility’s current rules with the City of Rahway before parking.

Rahway’s street and municipal parking rules depend on the location and posted restrictions, so check signs where you leave your car. The City of Rahway says downtown pay stations accept quarters or credit cards, and payment is also available through ParkMobile.

For the first half hour covered by the city’s pay-by-plate instructions, you still need to enter your license plate to register for the free time. Street-sweeping restrictions run from April 1 through October 31; check the signs for the applicable street and hours.

A residential parking permit is valid only on the street where the resident lives, and it does not exempt a vehicle from street-sweeping, meter, snow-removal or other rules.

The city says the transportation garage at 67 Lewis Street is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Daily parkers who stay more than three days must complete an extended-stay form to park without a time limit.

Check the City of Rahway’s official parking information for current payment and parking rules before you go. For local orientation, how to get around Rahway city centre can help you plan the area around your visit.

Rail can be an alternative to driving for trips served by Rahway Station, which NJ TRANSIT identifies on both the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines. The station is on Milton Avenue between Irving and Broad Streets, approximately one-half mile west of Routes 1 and 9.

Parking is available at municipal station lots and a garage, but spaces, rates and permit requirements vary by facility. NJ TRANSIT advises passengers that parking availability varies by station, day and time, and recommends arriving early for a train. For station access and train-planning details, see how to plan a train trip from Rahway Station.
